Induction 2007!

Hey CampTeeners!

It’s been a while since we’ve updated this blog but guess what? There’s something really BIG and HAPPENING coming up this April! You wanna know what it is?

Well, it’s Induction 2007!

Induction for the CTA members begun in 2006 where the CTE conducted a day of fun, laughter, peace and joy for all the selected CampTeeners of the batch 2005 to be part of our EXCO. This year, however, we’re not going to recruit anyone into the EXCO. But, we are going to officially recruit participants of CampTeen 2006 into the CampTeen Alumni.

Induction 2007 is really special because we are carrying it out in four phases.

Phase 1: Induction Training Camp (ITC) – Camp Resilience

Camp Resilience is held on 6-7 April, 2007 and is open to all chosen CampTeeners (hand picked by the EXCO members of your respective groups) with leadership qualities and a vast potential to become an outstanding individual. You will soon receive a letter from the EXCO indicating the details of camp. Of course, we will gladly welcome any campers from CampTeen 2006 who are interested to join us in Camp Resilience.

Phase 2: Planning & Execution of Project Sm:)e

Project Sm:)e is a community project that will be held during the June holidays, organised by the CTA/E involving a children’s home in Singapore. It aims to forge better racial relationships between these children and the participants of this project. Project Sm:)e will be conducted in three weeks, of which the participants of Camp Resilience will play a significant role in (by planning for the various activities to be carried out for all sessions). This will give an insight as to what planning an event is like as well as to provide hands-on exposure to the CTA members-to-be. The EXCO will liaise with the home and iron out the administrative issues while the CTA inductees will be slotted to plan for the day on-goings (i.e. morning activities, etc). Thus, a lot of commitment is needed for this project.

Phase 3: Induction 2007 Closing Ceremony

Upon the end of Project Sm:)e, all CTA Inductees who have successfully gone through Camp Resilience as well as the planning and execution stages Project Sm:)e will take pride in their own prize giving ceremony for all the time and hard work invested. Certificates will be handed out to each newly inducted CTA member.

Phases 4: CTA’s First Community Project

After all the hard work and enough of fun, it’s time to get serious and begin with your very first community project. Project Sm:)e was just a training session and on your own, the CTA members will have to incorporate a preferred project to schools or the public, with help from the EXCO, of course.

So now that I’ve summed up what’s going to be in store for you, are feeling excited already?

I bet you are!

So don’t hesitate and join us on this wonderful journey, a new beginning and a whole new experience for all of us.

With lotsa love from the EXCO, cheerios!

Bring me the ice, baby!

Dinner and Dance 2006 was a blast! For those of you who didn’t attend it, it was your loss. I’ll make an update about it once I get the pictures, alright? (:

Ojay, we have another gathering coming up! Now, who’s in for some ice-skating?

Date: Friday, December 29, 2006

Time: 1130 hours – 1700 hours

Venue: Jurong MRT Station

Dress code: Long sleeved shirts with jeans

Admission fee: $11.20 for 2 hours

Skates rental: $3.20 per pair

Bring along:

  • A pair of gloves
  • A pair of socks
  • A jacket (just in case you get cold)

Here is the proposed plan: We will gather at the above stated venue and head down to skate for approximately two hours before getting lunch. We can proceed to IMM or which ever place with good food for yummylicious lunch as well as some (window) shopping if any of you wish.

So come join us for more fun! All are welcome! It’s all right if you can’t skate. Neither can I! Well, who cares? (Uncle) Ron says he’ll be willing to teach FOC!

Yay!

With lotsa love from the EXCO, cheerios!

Fishy Frenzy

I was thinking of writing a random entry until I found some interesting stuff in my folders which I thought would be awesome to share with everyone here.

Nothing much, actually. Here with me, I have some rather unglam pictures of people from camp. Click to enlarge the pictures and don’t forget to enjoy them! But I forbid you from laughing (if you ever do), haha!

Syirr! And her weirdo plush toys...

What’s with the face?!

I see the GREEN light, baby!

Erm, the 3 “muskerteers”?

Oh my! The shirts are overwhelming me!

And lastly, for the coolest and hippest ringtone you can ever find, click here and download it, will you? I think the Jags got too engrossed in the Trolley game (the one where you had to walk on wooden planks or something like that) that they inevitably came up with such an ‘awesome‘ tune.

Oh well, I hope I kept you amused for a while!

See ya all on December 22, okayy!

With lotsa love from the EXCO, cheerios!

Sunbathing at Sentosa, anyone?

Yo! It’s Ada in the house and I’m here to write another great entry tonight! We’ve got a new layout and more updates for all of you so keep on visiting us and leave as many (constructive) comments as you wish, okay! (:

Before I move on, our CampTeen EXCO has a brand new email address: exco.campteen@gmail.com

This will serve as a platform for feedback from you to the EXCO. You can let us know how else we can better the Alumni or any aspect of CampTeen you wish for improvements. However, there is only ONE condition. DO NOT FLOOD US WITH CHAIN MAILS OF ANY SORT. If we do receive any, your email address shall be the first to be blocked and make sure you look out for harsh treatment from all of us at the EXCO. I hope I have made myself clear but in any case, we still hope to have sincere comments from all you people out there! Alternatively, you may also make a comment on our blog if emails are a hassle for you (:

Alright, on Thursday (7/12/2006), CampTeen 2006 had an informal gathering at Sentosa’s Palawan Beach! For all those who didn’t join us in all the fun, why didn’t you?! I’m sure everyone else who turned up would give their two thumbs up for such an awesome day out, yeah!

Let’s see who were there: Most of the EXCO members, people from Insane, Attitude, Juicy Jaguars, Daredevils, Fuhyo, Bandits… Okay. So at least one person from each group was present. Some even brought their friends along!

Go on, ask us what we did for an entire day out at the southern side of Singapore.

Well, we had loads of fun splashing water in the shallow waters of the sea (some even swam across to the other side of the bank!). The girls played beach soccer against the guys and they lost three games even though there were 13 aggressive girls playing against 6 macho guys! Then, everyone merged to form separate teams and soaked in the sun during a game of handball. Oh, did I mention we even celebrated the birthday of one member from Insane? Gee. The black-forest cake was Y-U-M-M-Y! So while some people left midway for their own plans for the rest of they day, the others got wet in the salty waters again! There were three siblings nearby who joined us in a game of Monkey and boy, were they wild! The youngest of the three was a very mischievous boy; he kept splashing water at all of us and even labelled Nesaar from Insane as the Indian Man! Wait, before I continue, I must mention that the toilets at Sentosa are first class. The showers are superbly clean unlike the many other toilets scattered around Singapore! Haha.

After a whole afternoon at Sentosa, we packed our barang-barangs and headed towards Habourfront for dinner before settling down at a quiet spot in Vivo City for some wonderful chit-chats. I kind of thought we should call ourselves the sugarcane gang because the sugarcane drinks at the hawker centre are lovely and almost all of us made it a part of our sumptuous meal.

But well, well. Who’d knew that the ever multi-racial CampTeen gang would crack numerous racist jokes at Vivo City? My dear friends, DO NOT try this anywhere, okay. My, oh my. I’m not a big fan of racist jokes so to me, that segment was a big no-no. Otherwise, it was fun playing whacky games, sharing our music preferences and telling ghost stories to freak one another out.

All in all, I can’t tell you how much fun and laughter all of us shared then but if you really want to know, do join us the next time, okay!

We had so much fun, yeah.

US!

With lotsa love from the EXCO, cheerios!

CAMPTEEN 2006!

Yo!

CampTeen 2006 has just ended and I’m sure all of us are missing our group mates and trainers, yeah? :) It’s okay, because the EXCO misses you too! Haha.

Okay, allow me to do a little introduction, please. I am Ada representing the CampTeen Executive Committee (also known as the CTE) to blog about the memorable events which took place at camp as well as posting all the updates regarding CampTeen. In case you don’t know, this is a blog for all CampTeen participants! On a weekly basis (or so I presume), I will be writing and posting up pictures of the various groups at CampTeen 2006. So sit back, relax and await my entries, alright!

Tonight, I will be crowning whacky titles for each of our ten groups at camp. From the past four days and three nights at Sarimbun Scouts Camp, I have made many observations of the various groups. But no worries, I will try to be as judgemental as possible, hee.

  1. Attitude: Erm. Ahh.
The first of ten groups led by instructor Junior and EXCO member, Amanda is pretty enthusiastic on the whole. Junior is a great big meanie who enjoys making fun of people (maybe that’s why members of Attitude also love teasing others). Junior calls me an airhead with big eyes (because big eyes result to a small brain) and he will never fail to remind me that I can float in midair should anyone make me angry. Don’t know why? Ask yourself, lah.
  2. Bandits: Fierce and Fiery.
Yes, yes. This is team where the Dancing Queen of CampTeen campfire 2006 belongs to. I guess they are really a bunch of noisy people; fancy banging the tables during dinner time. No table manners, is it?! Haha, just kidding. Well, well. The so-called “notorious Bandits” are led by Bobby and Alex (which may be the reason why Bandits are notorious, hah!). I can’t seem to figure out why others comment that Bandits are infamous until I realise what the word ‘bandits’ actually mean.
  3. C²: Nobody can be as outrageous as them!
I have got nothing much to say about this group. Actually I thought C² may actually name themselves Chendol instead. Sounds cooler, right?! These people are loud and super enthusiastic in whatever they do. Did any of you see them painting their faces after working on their group’s flag? I hope awful pimple breakouts didn’t occur to them!
  4. Daredevils: The fast and the furious.
Ahhh! This is one freaky group. If I can, I will repel as far as I can from them. They say devils lead you into temptation and I truly agree with it. I can’t seem to get that tempting cheer of theirs out of my puny little head! What’s with the “洗刷刷, 洗刷刷… 洗刷刷, ooh ohh!” thing? And they choose to repeat it four times during campfire night, haiyo.
  5. Eunique: Ehh.
I have no idea if I got the group name’s spelling correctly. On my opinion, group E is a relatively quiet group. Most of the EXCO members hardly hear much from them. Nonetheless, let’s keep our fingers crossed that the group E peeps have enjoyed themselves as much as all of us did!
  6. Fuhyo: The wild and crazy!
I only have one thing to write about them – “Wooooh! It’s hot in here! I say there must be some Fuhyos in the atmosphere! I say wooooh!~ It’s hot in here! There must be some Fuhyos in the atmosphere! I say ooh-ey-ohh-ey-yo… Hot, hot, hot!”
  7. Grim Reapers: What’s with the name?!
Ehh. I don’t quite know much about this group. All I know is that Fabian and Shuib are in-charge. I heard that the Grim Reapers are not so much of a hyped up team. Must be because of Shuib, right?! Shuib! You should have gotten them to cheer better, lah!
  8. Hippie Hippo: Too hip to be true!
I never knew hippopotamus’ can be hip. Yao Zhong and Ahmad must have done a lot to get these cutie hippies going. I should have recorded the Fever dance! And that Indian tree dance they did during the Cultural Night, too! “I’ve got a fever! I’m hot! I can’t be stopped! I’ve got a fever!”
  9. Insane: You’ll never wanna mess with them!
This is the reason why Insane is not to be messed with.
    Kumar
Besides, they’ve got two Dancing Kings in there! One of them includes the guy in the picture above, teehee.
  10. Juicy Jaguars: Watch out or they’ll bite!
This is by the far the MOST enthusiastic group amongst all ten teams. Let’s see, there is a lady with the sexiest ass butt, the meanest ever trainer and yes, the noisest group to ever roam in the entire campsite. You hear them singing the Banana song everywhere they go. If you see them, please run. If not, then bring ear plugs. But oh wells. We have to admit that Juicy Jaguars are the bomb!

Alrighty, I hope you have had fun reading the all the crap above as much as I have had in writing them. Do watch out for the next entry because I’ll be making an update on the coming CampTeen Christmas Dinner and Dance!

With lotsa love from the EXCO, cheerios!
